Goals and Objectives:
In this class, students will learn to read and analyze complex texts. Students will write about texts in a variety of formats such as, narratives, analyses and research papers. Lessons will be centered around the Ohio Common Core standards.
Materials Needed:
Writer’s Notebook
The Odyssey- Homer
Romeo and Juliet- Shakespeare
The Book Thief- Markus Zusak
Literature Books
Grading:
Students will be expected to turn in assignments on the day they are due. Students will be notified when the due date is, and they can also check Google Classroom for a reminder. Each day an assignment is late, points will be lost. If the assignment is 5 days late, or more, the student will receive no credit.
In order for students to receive extra credit throughout the quarter, they CAN NOT have any missing assignments. Due dates to all assignments will be posted on Google Classroom. Students will be given daily participation points. Points can be taken away if students do not abide by the expectations listed below.
Students will be graded based upon the Ohio Common Core content standards. Progress book will be updated frequently.
Accommodations:
Please see me or email me if you require special accommodations due to learning disabilities, religious practices, physical requirements, medical needs, or any other reasons.
Expectations:
Phones should not be used during class.
iPads are to be brought to class daily.
Participate in class discussions!
Turn work in on time!
Be respectful!
Ask questions!
No cheating! If a student is caught cheating, they will receive no credit, and will serve a detention. (see code of conduct)
Be on time. After a 3rd tardy, a detention will be issued.
Assignments should be turned in at the beginning of class on the day they are due.
